     From circa 1454, her married name became Maxwell.2

     John Maxwell, Master of Maxwell was the son of Robert Maxwell, 2nd Lord Maxwell and Janet Forrester.2 He married Janet Crichton, daughter of George Crichton, 1st and last Earl of Caithness and Janet Borthwick, circa 1454.1 He died on 22 July 1484 at Kirtlemure, Scotland, killed in an affray against raiders from England.1
     He was styled as Master of Maxwell between 1454 and 1484.3
