     Hon. Alice Susan Hamilton was born in 1866.2 She was the daughter of John Glencairn Carter Hamilton, 1st Baron Hamilton of Dalzell and Lady Emily Eleanor Leslie-Melville.1 She married Captain Hon. John Beresford Campbell, son of Hallyburton George Campbell, 3rd Baron Stratheden of Cupar and Campbell of St. Andrews and Louisa Mary Beresford-Hope, on 15 January 1895.1 She died on 25 January 1949.1
     From 15 January 1895, her married name became Campbell.2 She held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Roxburghshire.3 On 7 February 1921 she was granted the rank of a baron's widow.1

     Donald Campbell was born on 16 April 1896.1,2 He was the son of Captain Hon. John Beresford Campbell and Hon. Alice Susan Hamilton.1 He died on 19 July 1916 at age 20, killed in action.1,2
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the 3rd Battalion, Coldstream Guards.2 He fought in the First World War.2
