     Mark Buxton was born on 23 November 1909.1 He was the son of Edward Gurney Buxton and Laura Gurney.2 He married Penelope Ann Cecil Clifton, daughter of Edmund C. Clifton, on 11 July 1949.1 He died in 1972.1
     Mark Buxton was educated at Charterhouse School, Godalming, Surrey, England.3 He was educated at Pembroke College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.1 He fought in the Second World War.3 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the service of the Royal Indian Army Service Corps.1
