     John Alfred Brain was born on 8 December 1827.¹ He was the son of John Brain and Ann Badcock.¹ He married Ann Catherine Cottrell, daughter of Thomas Cottrell, on 26 May 1853.¹ He died on 12 April 1901 at age 73.¹
     He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Berkshire in 1864.¹ He lived at Reading, Berkshire, England^G.¹ He had two younger sons and three daughters.¹

     Gertrude Mary Atkins was the daughter of John Atkins.¹ She married Sydney Brain, son of John Alfred Brain and Ann Catherine Cottrell, on 9 April 1891.¹ She died on 4 February 1939.¹
     From 9 April 1891, her married name became Brain.¹

     John Atkins Brain was born on 22 January 1892.¹ He was the son of Sydney Brain and Gertrude Mary Atkins.¹ He married Doris May Farrer, daughter of Edward Oliver Farrer, on 3 September 1919.¹ He died on 11 March 1954 at age 62.¹
     He was educated at Leighton Park School, Reading, Berkshire, England^G.¹ He fought in the First World War, where he was wounded in 1918.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Royal Berkshire Regiment.¹ He was Clerk to the Berkshire Magistrates between 1934 and 1942.¹

     Doris May Farrer is the daughter of Edward Oliver Farrer.¹ She married John Atkins Brain, son of Sydney Brain and Gertrude Mary Atkins, on 3 September 1919.¹
     From 3 September 1919, her married name became Brain.¹

     Edward Oliver Farrer lived at Reading, Berkshire, England^G.¹

     Geoffrey John Farrer Brain was born on 2 June 1922.¹ He was the son of John Atkins Brain and Doris May Farrer.¹ He married Pamela Martyn Green, daughter of William Martyn Green, on 19 August 1950.¹ He died on 25 May 2000 at age 77 at Reading, Berkshire, England.²
     He was educated at Leighton Park School, Reading, Berkshire, England^G.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Artillery.¹ He fought in the Second World War between 1942 and 1945.¹ He graduated from St. Edmund Hall, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G, in 1947 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)¹ He was a practising solicitor and notary public.¹
