     Gerald FitzGerald, 8th Duke of Leinster was born on 27 May 1914.1 He was the son of Edward FitzGerald, 7th Duke of Leinster and May Etheridge.1 He married, firstly, Joane Kavanagh, daughter of Major Arthur Thomas MacMorrough Kavanagh, The MacMorrough and Minna Alice Buxton, on 17 October 1936.3 He and Joane Kavanagh were divorced in 1946.3 He married, secondly, Anne Smith, daughter of Lt.-Col. Philip Eustace Smith, on 12 June 1946.1 He died on 3 December 2004 at age 90.4
