Sir William Bowyer-Smijth, 11th Bt. was born on 22 April 1814.1 He was the son of Sir Edward Bowyer-Smijth, 10th Bt. and Laetitia Cecily Weyland.1 He married, firstly, Marianne Frances Meux, daughter of Sir Henry Meux, 1st Bt. and Elizabeth Mary Smith, on 2 April 1839 at Cheshunt, Hertfordshire, EnglandG.2 He married, secondly, Eliza Fechnie Malcolm, daughter of David Baird Malcolm, on 19 March 1875 at Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England.2 He died on 20 November 1883 at age 69 at Twineham Court, Sussex, EnglandG.1
He was given the name of William Smijth at birth.1 He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG.1 On 10 June 1839 his name was legally changed to William Bowyer-Smijth.1 He succeeded as the 11th Baronet Smith, of Hill Hall, co. Essex [E., 1661] on 15 August 1850.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for South Essex between 1852 and 1857.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.)3 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1860 in the 19th Essex Volunteers.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)3 He sold the estate of Horham Hall to Francis George West.1
