General Sir Alexander Stanhope Cobbe, V.C. was born on 5 June 1870 at Naini Tal, India.3 He was the son of Lt.-Gen. Sir Alexander Hugh Cobbe and Emily Barbara Jones.1,2 He married Winifred Ada Bowen, daughter of Sir Albert Edward Bowen, 1st Bt. and Alice Anita Crowther, on 1 October 1910.1 He died on 29 June 1931 at age 61 at Shambrook, Bedfordshire, England.1,3 He was buried at St. Peter's Church, Shambrook, Bedfordshire, England.3
