     Winifred Ada Bowen was the daughter of Sir Albert Edward Bowen, 1st Bt. and Alice Anita Crowther.1 She married General Sir Alexander Stanhope Cobbe, V.C., son of Lt.-Gen. Sir Alexander Hugh Cobbe and Emily Barbara Jones, on 1 October 1910.1 She died on 11 August 1956.1
     Winifred Ada Bowen was Justice of the Peace (J.P.).2 From 1 October 1910, her married name became Cobbe.1

     General Sir Alexander Stanhope Cobbe, V.C. was born on 5 June 1870 at Naini Tal, India.3 He was the son of Lt.-Gen. Sir Alexander Hugh Cobbe and Emily Barbara Jones.1,2 He married Winifred Ada Bowen, daughter of Sir Albert Edward Bowen, 1st Bt. and Alice Anita Crowther, on 1 October 1910.1 He died on 29 June 1931 at age 61 at Shambrook, Bedfordshire, England.1,3 He was buried at St. Peter's Church, Shambrook, Bedfordshire, England.3
     Bdrs 1889 joined SWales.4 Expdn 1898 S Angoniland.4 Force 1895 served in Chitral Relief (despatches).4 India 1926 GOC-in-C N Cmd -30.4 He was also known as Alexander Stanhope Cobbe.4 Trans ISC.4 He was educated Wellington.4 And in World War I (despatches nine times).4 In 1899 Expdn against Kwamba (despatches).4 In 1900 Ashanti CB 1915.4 He fought in the Somaliliand Expedition.5 He was Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1900.4 He was decorated with the award of Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.).1 Between 1902 and 1904 Somaliland (despatches four times).4 He was decorated with the award of Victoria Cross (V.C.) on 20 January 1903, for his actions on 6 October 1902.1,5 He was Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.) ] In 1917.4 He was Knight Commander, Order of the Star of India (K.C.S.I.)      Lt.-Gen. Sir Alexander Hugh Cobbe was born in 1825.2 He was the son of Colonel Thomas Alexander Cobbe and Nuzzeer Begum Khan.2,3 He married Emily Barbara Jones, daughter of Captain G Saintanhope Jones, in 1863.2 He died on 13 September 1899.2
     Lt.-Gen. Sir Alexander Hugh Cobbe was cmd'd 17th Regiment.2 He was invested as a Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.).1
