Lt.-Col. Duncan Darroch, 6th of Gourock was born on 9 February 1868.3 He is the son of Duncan Darroch, 5th of Gourock and of Torridon and Ann Rickman.2 He married Elizabeth Mabws Boughey, daughter of Colonel George Fletcher Ottley Boughey and Harriet Rose Amy Stuart-Menteth, on 1 October 1898.1 He died on 22 May 1923 at age 55.3
Lt.-Col. Duncan Darroch, 6th of Gourock was educated at Harrow School, Harrow on the Hill, London, England.3 He retired from the military in 1910, with the rank of Major, late of the Argyll and Sutherland Highalnders.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the service of the Territorial Forces Reserve.3 He fought in the First World War, in Gallipoli and Sinai.3 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Renfrewshire.3
