     David Buffett was born on 27 May 1826 at Pitcairn Island.1 He was the son of John Buffett and Dorothy Young.1 He married Martha Young, daughter of George Young and Hannah Adams, on 28 January 1851 at Pitcairn Island.1 He married Maria Elizabeth Quintal, daughter of John Quintal and Maria Christian, on 20 July 1881 at Norfolk Island.1 He died on 7 August 1924 at age 98 at Norfolk Island.1
     He held the office of Chief Magistrate of Norfolk Island in 1871.1
