     John Clotworthy, 1st Viscount Massereene was the son of Sir Hugh Clotworthy and Mary Langford.2 He married Lady Margaret Jones, daughter of Roger Jones, 1st Viscount Ranelagh and Frances Moore, before 1642/43. He died on 23 September 1665 at Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland, without male issue.1
     John Clotworthy, 1st Viscount Massereene was invested as a Knight on 26 November 1626.2 He gained the title of 1st Viscount Massereene, of co. Antrim [Ireland] on 21 November 1660, with a special remainder to the heirs of his son-in-law, Sir John Skeffington, Bt..2 He lived at Antrim, County Antrim, Ireland.2
