     Diana Christian Hare was born at Burley, Hampshire, England.2 She was the daughter of Brig.-Gen. Robert Hugh Hare and Lillian Louise Mellor.1,2 She married George Delaval Astley, son of Hon. Charles Melton Astley and Evelyn Vere Strover, on 28 April 1949.1 She died in 1996.1
     From 28 April 1949, her married name became Astley.1

     George Delaval Astley was born on 5 October 1915.1 He is the son of Hon. Charles Melton Astley and Evelyn Vere Strover.1 He married, firstly, Hope Shuttleworth Rendall, daughter of Lt.-Col. Francis Holden Shuttleworth Rendall, on 17 January 1942.1 He and Hope Shuttleworth Rendall were divorced in 1946.1 He married, secondly, Diana Christian Hare, daughter of Brig.-Gen. Robert Hugh Hare and Lillian Louise Mellor, on 28 April 1949.1 He died in 1993.1
     George Delaval Astley was educated at Haileybury College, Haileybury, Hertfordshire, England.1 He gained the rank of Major in the service of the Royal Fusiliers, Territorial Army.1 He was Registrar of the Society of Authors.1
