     Maj.-Gen. James William Gosset was born on 30 December 1818 at Jersey, Channel IslandsG.1 He married Maria Asia Hull Woodriff, daughter of Captain John Robert Woodriff and Maria Hull.2 He died on 5 March 1888 at age 69 at Auckland, New ZealandG.1
     He gained the rank of Major-General in the Royal Engineers.3
