     Benjamin Herbert Holland was born on 19 July 1842.3 He was the son of Robert Holland and Sarah Frances Tonge.3 He married Agnes Hope Huntly, daughter of Charles Hugh Grafton Fitzroy Beachcroft Huntly and Isabella Bennett Baillie, on 22 November 1872.3
     He held the office of Registrar of Deeds [Cape Colony].3 He lived at Worsley, Kenilworth, Cape Town, Cape Province, South Africa.3

     Sir Alfred Reginald Sothern Holland, 1st Bt. was born on 15 March 1876.2 He was the son of Benjamin Herbert Holland and Agnes Hope Huntly.1 He married Stretta Aimée Price, daughter of Edward George Price, on 30 April 1910.2 He died on 14 September 1948 at age 72.2
     Sir Alfred Reginald Sothern Holland, 1st Bt. usually went by his middle name of Sothern.2 He was with the Cape Civil Service between 1894 and 1908.2 He was Private Secretary to the Prime Minister [South Africa] between 1902 and 1908.2 He was Permanent Head of the Prime Minister's Department between 1905 and 1908.2 He was Trade Commissioner for South Africa between 1908 and 1914.2 He was appointed Knight in 1912.2 He was Deputy Director-General of Explosives Supply, Ministry of Munitions in 1915.2 He was Director-General of Inspections Munitions Department in 1916.2 He was Director-General of the Board of Inventions and Research, Admiralty in 1917.2 He was created 1st Baronet Holland, of Westwell Manor, co.      From 17 July 1615, her married name became Curghey.1
