     William de la Pole, 1st Duke of Suffolk was born on 16 October 1396.1 He was the son of Michael de la Pole, 2nd Earl of Suffolk and Lady Katherine de Stafford.2 He married Alice Chaucer, daughter of Thomas Chaucer and Maud Burghersh, circa 11 November 1430.3 He died on 2 May 1450 at age 53.1
     He was created 1st Duke of Suffolk on 2 June 1448.3

     Alice Chaucer was born circa 1404.1 She was the daughter of Thomas Chaucer and Maud Burghersh.2,3 She married, firstly, Sir John Philip before 1415.2 She married, secondly, Thomas Montagu, 4th Earl of Salisbury, son of John de Montagu, 3rd Earl of Salisbury and Maud Francis, before November 1424.2,4 She married, thirdly, William de la Pole, 1st Duke of Suffolk, son of Michael de la Pole, 2nd Earl of Suffolk and Lady Katherine de Stafford, circa 11 November 1430.5 She died on 20 May 1475.1 She was buried at Ewelme Church, Ewelme, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.3
     From before 1415, her married name became Philip.2 From before November 1424, her married name became Montagu.2 From 11 November 1430, her married name became de la Pole.5
