     He was given the name of James Kennedy Shaw at birth.¹ He was educated at Royal Naval College, Osborne, Isle of Wight, England.¹ He was educated at Royal Naval College, Dartmouth, Devon, England.¹ He fought in the First World War.¹ He succeeded to the title of 9th Baronet Shaw, of the city of London [E., 1665] on 11 September 1922.¹ He was educated Second World War.¹ On 20 July 1956 his name was legally changed to James Kennedy Best-Shaw by Royal Licence.¹ He was invested as a Officer, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (O.St.J.).¹ He held the office of High Sheriff of Kent in 1961.¹

     Elizabeth Mary Theodora Hughes was born on 22 June 1896 at 57 Eccleston Square, London, England.^2,3 She was the daughter of Sir Robert Heywood Hughes, 12th Bt. and Edith Agnes Skinner.^1,4 She married Sir James Kennedy Best-Shaw, 9th Bt., son of Sir Charles John Monson Shaw, 8th Bt. and Elizabeth Louisa Whatman Best Bosanquet, on 28 March 1921.² She died on 5 July 1986 at age 90.¹
      From 28 March 1921, her married name became Best-Shaw.¹

     Sir Robert Heywood Hughes, 12th Bt. was born on 2 November 1865.² He was the son of Sir Alfred Hughes, 9th Bt. and Maria Smith.³ He married Edith Agnes Skinner, daughter of Charles Binny Skinner and Frances Mary Andrews, on 7 June 1894.² He died on 3 January 1951 at age 85.²
     He succeeded to the title of 12th Baronet Hughes, of East Bergholt, co. Suffolk [G.B., 1773] on 6 May 1945.²

     Charles John Hughes Best-Shaw was born on 23 January 1928.¹ He is the son of Sir James Kennedy Best-Shaw, 9th Bt. and Elizabeth Mary Theodora Hughes.¹ He married Carol Mary Drew, daughter of Joseph Martin Drew, on 12 October 1971.¹
     He was educated at Lancing College, Lancing, Sussex, England.¹ He lived in 2003 at Cornerfield House, Charing, Kent, England.¹

     Carol Mary Drew is the daughter of Joseph Martin Drew.¹ She married Charles John Hughes Best-Shaw, son of Sir James Kennedy Best-Shaw, 9th Bt. and Elizabeth Mary Theodora Hughes, on 12 October 1971.¹
      From 12 October 1971, her married name became Best-Shaw.¹
