     Alfred de la Poer Beresford was born on 18 December 1919.1 He was the son of Reverend Henry William de la Poer Beresford and Constance Grace McLaurin.1 He died on 16 November 1998 at age 78.1
     Alfred de la Poer Beresford fought in the Second World War.1 He gained the rank of officer in the service of the Royal Navy.1 He held the office of Hon. Canon of St. John's Cathedral, Umtata.1
