     He gained the rank of Major in the 1st Bengal Native Infantry.¹

     William Stewart Bellingham was born on 18 June 1805.¹ He was the son of John Bellingham and Elizabeth Jane Stewart.¹ He married Jane Bellingham, daughter of Major Henry Bellingham and Henrietta Elizabeth Cruden, on 4 May 1841.¹ He died on 29 December 1869 at age 64.¹
