Jean Barclay of Towie was the daughter of Sir Alexander Barclay of Towie, 1st Bt. and Helen Duff.1 She married Robert Dalrymple, son of unknown Dalrymple, on 22 July 1745.1 She died in May 1746, without surviving issue.1
On 20 January 1737 she was served heir to her mother.1 From 22 July 1745, her married name became Dalrymple of Towie.1
