     Dudley Carleton, 1st and last Viscount Dorchester was born in 1573.2 He was the son of Anthony Carleton.3 He married Anne Glemham, daughter of Sir Henry Glemham and Lady Anne Sackville, on 14 June 1630.1 He died on 15 February 1631/32, without surviving issue.1
     He was created 1st Viscount Carleton of Imbercourt, Surrey [England] on 22 May 1626.4 He was created 1st Viscount Dorchester, co. Oxford [England] on 25 July 1628.4 He held the office of Vice-Chamberlain of the Household.4
     On his death, his titles became extinct.4 He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.5
