     General Sir Edward Harris Greathed was born on 8 June 1812 at South Audley Street, London, England.2 He was the son of Edward Greathed and Mary Elizabeth Glyn.2 He was baptised on 6 January 1813 at Chalbury, Dorset, England.2 He married, firstly, Louisa Frances Archer on 8 March 1854 at Allahabad, India.2 He married, secondly, Ellen Mary Tuffnell, daughter of Reverend George Tuffnell, on 19 December 1860 at St. Mary Magdalene, St. Leonards on Sea, Sussex, England.2 He married, thirdly, Charlotte Frederica Caroline Osborn, daughter of Sir George Robert Osborn, 6th Bt. and Lady Charlotte Kerr, on 4 August 1869 at Parish Church, Campton, Bedfordshire, England.2 He died on 19 November 1881 at age 69.1
     He was (an unknown value) at Uddens House, Dorset, England.3 He gained the rank of Colonel in the 1st Battalion, 8th Foot.2 He fought in the Relief of Lucknow in 1857.2 He was commander of the 3rd Infantry Brigade between 10 November 1858 and 9 January 1859.2 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.)1
