     Mark Everard Pepys, 6th Earl of Cottenham was born on 29 May 1903.1 He was the son of Kenelm Charles Edward Pepys, 4th Earl of Cottenham and Lady Rose Nevill.2 He married Sybil Venetia Taylor, daughter of Captain John Vickris Taylor and Sybil Mary Hopkinson, on 19 January 1927.3 He and Sybil Venetia Taylor were divorced in 1939. He died on 19 July 1943 at age 40, without male issue.3
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Leicestershire Yeomanry, Territorial Army.1 He succeeded as the 9th Baronet Pepys [G.B., 1784] on 29 December 1922.3 He succeeded as the 8th Baronet Pepys [U.K., 1801] on 29 December 1922.3 He succeeded as the 6th Viscount Crowhurst, of Crowhurst, co. Surrey [U.K., 1850] on 29 December 1922.3 He succeeded as the 6th Earl of Cottenham [U.K., 1850] on 29 December 1922.3 He succeeded as the 6th Baron Cottenham, of Cottenham, co. Cambridge [U.K., 1836] on 29 December 1922.3

     Charles Pepys Courtenay, 14th Earl of Devon was born on 14 July 1870.1 He was the son of Henry Reginald Courtenay, Lord Courtenay and Lady Evelyn Pepys.1 He died on 4 February 1927 at age 56, unmarried.1
     He was Inspector of the Board of Agriculture between 1895 and 1904.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.p.) for Devon.1 He succeeded as the 10th Baronet Courtenay [E., 1645] on 29 January 1904.1 He succeeded as the 14th Earl of Devon [E., 1553] on 29 January 1904.1 He retired from the military in 1908, with the rank of Major, late of the Somerset Light Infantry.1 He gained the rank of Temporary Major in 1914.1
