     Laurence Richard Philipps, 1st Baron Milford was born on 24 January 1874 at Warminster, Wiltshire, EnglandG.1 He was the son of Reverend Sir James Erasmus Philipps, 12th Bt. and Hon. Mary Margaret Best.1,2 He married Ethel Georgina Speke, daughter of Reverend Benjamin Speke, on 10 April 1901.1 He died after 1961.2
     He was educated at Felsted School, Felsted, Essex, EnglandG.1 He was educated at Royal School of Mines, South Kensington, London, EnglandG.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Hampshire in 1910.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of Hampshire in 1915.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Radnorshire in 1918.1 He was created 1st Baronet Philipps, of Llanstephan, co. Radnor [U.K.] on 22 September 1919.1 He was chairman of Court Line Ltd, Kia-Ora Ltd and Northern Securities Trust.1 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.) by University of Wales, Wales, in 1939.1 He was created 1st Baron Milford, of Llanstephan, co. Radnor [U.K.] on 2 February 1939.1

     Ethel Georgina Speke was born circa 1880.1 She was the daughter of Reverend Benjamin Speke.1 She married Laurence Richard Philipps, 1st Baron Milford, son of Reverend Sir James Erasmus Philipps, 12th Bt. and Hon. Mary Margaret Best, on 10 April 1901.1 She died on 30 June 1971.1
     Her married name became Philipps. She held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Radnorshire.1 After her marriage, Ethel Georgina Speke was styled as Baroness Milford on 2 February 1939.

     Reverend Sir James Erasmus Philipps, 12th Bt. was born on 23 October 1824 at Boyton, Wiltshire, EnglandG.1 He was the son of Sir James Evans Philipps, 11th Bt. and Mary Anne Bickley.2 He married Hon. Mary Margaret Best, daughter of Hon. Reverend Samuel Best and Emma Duke, on 5 May 1859.1 He died on 21 February 1912 at age 87.1
     He graduated from Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1847 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He graduated from Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1853 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He was Vicar between 1859 and 1897 at Warminster, Wiltshire, England.1 He was the Warden at St. Boniface's Missionary College, Warminster, Wiltshire, England.1 He held the office of Prebendary of Salisbury in 1870.1 He succeeded as the 12th Baronet Philipps, of Picton Castle [E., 1621] on 14 February 1873.2 He lived at Picton, Pembrokeshire, Wales.1

     Hon. Reverend Samuel Best was born on 2 December 1802.1 He was the son of William Draper Best, 1st Baron Wynford and Mary Anne Knapp.2 He married, firstly, Charlotte Willis Burrough, daughter of Sir James Burrough, on 11 April 1826.1 He married, secondly, Emma Duke, daughter of Lt.-Col. Charles Duke, on 21 February 1835.1 He died on 20 January 1873 at age 70.1
     He was Rector at Abbotts Anne, Hampshire, England.1
