     Thomas Covingtrie was baptised on 15 June 1685.1 He was the son of David Covingtrie and Nicolla Traill.1 He married, secondly, Margaret Elphinston.1 He married, firstly, Elspeth Loutitt, daughter of Thomas Loutitt, on 8 September 1719.1 He died on 2 September 1744 at age 59.1
     He graduated from Edinburgh University, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland, in 1705 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He was educated at Glasgow University, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland. He was ordained on 21 September 1711.1
