     Lt.-Col. William Sherer Maud was born on 16 May 1839.1 He was the son of Reverend John Primatt Maud and Matilda Elizabeth Hains.1 He married Anne Hartley, daughter of Thomas Hartley, on 12 July 1866.1 He died on 6 May 1894 at age 54.1
     He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, London, England.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Royal Engineers.1 He lived at Bathwick Hill House, Bath, Somerset, England.1

     Lt.-Col. William Hartley Maud was born on 10 October 1868.1 He was the son of Lt.-Col. William Sherer Maud and Anne Hartley.1 He married Isabella Lucy Byne, daughter of Henry Byne, on 25 July 1906.1 He died on 12 May 1948 at age 79.1
     He was educated at Wellington College, Berkshire, England.1 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England.1 He fought in the North-West Frontier between 1897 and 1898.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1908.1 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Geographical Society (F.R.G.S.)1 He fought in the First World War between 1914 and 1919, where he was mentioned in dispatches.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of Somerset in 1933.1

     Isabella Lucy Byne was the daughter of Henry Byne.1 She married, firstly, Wilfred Marshall.1 She married, secondly, Lt.-Col. William Hartley Maud, son of Lt.-Col. William Sherer Maud and Anne Hartley, on 25 July 1906.1 She died on 12 February 1935.1
     Her married name became Marshall.1 From 25 July 1906, her married name became Maud.1
