     He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Cumberland.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Cumberland.1 He lived at Barrock, Cumberland, England.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the 34th Regiment.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of Cumberland in 1867.1
