     Sir Matthew Carew was the son of Sir Wymond Carew and Martha Denny.2 He married Alice Rivers, daughter of Sir John Rivers.1 He died in 1618.1
     He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.1 He held the office of Master in Chancery between 1583 and 1618.1 He was appointed Knight on 23 July 1603.1
