     Helen Violet Portal was the daughter of Reverend George Raymond Portal and Helen Mary Charlotte Soulsby. She married Richard Francis Nicholson, son of William Nicholson and Isabella Sarah Meek, on 31 August 1897.1 She died on 2 October 1927.1
     Helen Violet Portal usually went by her middle name of Violet. From 31 August 1897, her married name became Nicholson.1
