Major Sir Charles Erskine of Alva, 4th Bt. was the son of Sir John Erskine of Alva, 3rd Bt. and Catherine St. Clair.1 He married Henrietta Fraser, daughter of Colonel unknown Fraser of Dundalloch, in 1743.1 He died on 2 July 1747 at Lauffeld, The Netherlands, killed in action.1
He gained the rank of Major in the Royal Scots Regiment.1 He succeeded as the 4th Baronet Erskine, of Alva [N.S., 1666] on 12 March 1739.1 He fought in the Battle of Lauffeld on 2 July 1747.1
