     Lt.-Col. John Peyton was born circa 1827.1 He was the son of Wynne Peyton and Maria Coyne.1 He married, firstly, Emily Georgiana Violet Pringle in 1861.1 He married, secondly, Elizabeth Henderson in 1868. He died on 18 May 1909 at London, England.1
     He gained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in 1848 in the 87th Regiment (Royal Irish Fusiliers.) He gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1849.2 He fought in the Indian Mutiny between 1857 and 1858. He gained the rank of Captain in 1858 in the 18th Hussars. He gained the rank of Major in 1869 in the 7th Dragoon Guards. He gained the rank of Major in 1869 in the 18th Hussars. He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1871 in the 7th Dragoon Guards.3
