     Joost Heer van Bronckhorst-Batenburg Heer van Borculo en Lichtenvoorde was born in 1518 at Castle Batenburg, Batenburg, The Netherlands.¹ He was the son of Dirk Heer van Bronckhorst-Batenburg Heer van Hönnepel and Elisabeth Gertrude Gräfin von Limburg-Styrum Edelfrau von Mörmter.¹ He married Johanna van Brederode in 1551.¹ He died in 1599.¹

     Johanna van Brederode was born circa 1525 at Brussels, Belgium.¹ She married Joost Heer van Bronckhorst-Batenburg Heer van Borculo en Lichtenvoorde, son of Dirk Heer van Bronckhorst-Batenburg Heer van Hönnepel and Elisabeth Gertrude Gräfin von Limburg-Styrum Edelfrau von Mörmter, in 1551.¹ She died in 1573.¹
