     Maj.-Gen. James Mandeville Mandeville-Hackett was born in 1782 at Clonmel, County Tipperary, Ireland. He was the son of Thomas Mandeville and Mary Hackett.2 He married Marguerite Gledsdale.3 He died on 18 April 1842 at Cananore, Madras, India.1
     He was given the name of James Mandeville at birth. He gained the rank of Colonel in the 51st Madras Native Infantry.1 He lived at Orchardstown, Clonmel, County Tipperary, Ireland.1
