Reverend John Gwynne1

     Reverend John Gwynne was born circa 1761.1 He was the son of David Gwynne and Jane Simpson.2 He married Catharine Rolleston, daughter of Reverend Stephen Rolleston.1 He died in 1852.1
     He was educated at Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland, he was admitted as a sizar on 23 May 1780.1 He can be identified as the "cultivated young clergyman from the North" mentioned by Dorothea Herbert in her Retrospections as having stayed in her father's house at Carrick-on-Suir in 1784.1 He was Rector of Kilroot at County Antrim, Ireland.1

     Catharine Rolleston is the daughter of Reverend Stephen Rolleston.2 She married Reverend John Gwynne, son of David Gwynne and Jane Simpson.1
     She was described by Dorothea Herbert as "a lady of large fortune" from near Fethard.1 Her married name became Gwynne.1

Reverend Stephen Gwynne1

     Reverend Stephen Gwynne was born in 1792 at County Tipperary, Ireland.1 He was the son of Reverend John Gwynne and Catharine Rolleston.2 He married Mary Stevenson.1 He died in 1873.1
     He matriculated at Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland, in 1810.1 He graduated from Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland, in 1815 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He was Perpetual Curate at Larne between 1816 and 1826 at County Antrim, Ireland.1 He was founder of a school in Portstewart where he taught his own sons at Ireland.1 He was treasurer of the Diocese of Connor at County Armagh, Ireland.1 He was Rector of Portstewart in 1836 at County Londonderry, Ireland.1
