Dermot O'Callaghan Grubb was born on 16 April 1920.1 He is the son of George Herbert Grubb and Hilda Lilias Midgley.2 He married Pamela Jane Brown Rickword, daughter of Edgell Rickword, on 21 March 1952.1
He was educated at Bryanston School, Blandford, Dorset, England.1 He was HM Prison Service.1 He was governor of Oxford Prison between 1957 and 1973.1 He was awarded the honorary degree of Master of Arts (M.A.) by Wadham College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1973.1 He was governor of Bedford Prison.1 He lived at 11 St Loyes Street, Bedford, Bedfordshire, England.1
