     Sophia Isabella Alexander was the daughter of Captain John Hobhouse Inglis Alexander.2 She married Slingsby Westbury Bethell, son of Hon. Slingsby Bethell and Caroline Chaplin, on 12 February 1890.1 She died on 2 September 1940.1
     From 12 February 1890, her married name became Bethell.

     Christopher Alick Bethell was born on 3 April 1893.1 He was the son of Slingsby Westbury Bethell and Sophia Isabella Alexander.2 He married Esmée Clare Dillon, daughter of Campbell Dillon, on 1 January 1921.1 He died on 2 July 1940 at age 47, killed in action.1
     He fought in the First World War, where he was wounded.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Scots Fusiliers.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He gained the rank of Brevet-Major in the Royal Tank Corps.1

     Captain Jocelyn Slingsby Bethell was born on 8 March 1897.1 He was the son of Slingsby Westbury Bethell and Sophia Isabella Alexander.2 He married Violet Monica Peareth Kincaid Lennox, daughter of William George Peareth Kincaid Lennox and Anna Lily Frances Rouse-Boughton-Knight, on 6 April 1929.1 He died in 1975.3
     He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in dispatches.1 He fought in the Second World War, where he was mentioned in dispatches.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Navy.1 He was awarded the U.S. Legion of Merit.1 He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1943.1
