Charles Lyon Stephenson was born on 15 August 1935.1 He is the son of Lt.-Col. Charles Eustace Kenyon Stephenson and Nancy Barbara Lyon.2 He married, firstly, Margot Jane Tinker, daughter of Tony Malcolm Tinker, on 1 March 1960.1 He and Margot Jane Tinker were divorced in 1972.1 He married, secondly, Hon. Sarah Merryweather Norrie, daughter of Lt.-Gen. Charles Willoughby Moke Norrie, 1st Baron Norrie and Patricia Merryweather Bainbridge, in 1974.1
He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.1 He gained the rank of Major in the Royal Yeomanry Regiment.1 He was managing director of Stephenson Blake (Hldgs) Ltd and Thomas Turton and Sons.1 He was awarded the Territorial Decoration (T.D.)2 He lived in 2003 at The Cottage, Great Longstone, Derbyshire, England.1
