     Sir Robert Workman Smith of Crowmallie, 1st Bt. was born on 7 December 1880.1 He was the son of George Smith and Mary Workman.2 He married Jessie Hill Workman, daughter of William Workman, on 6 December 1911.1 He died on 6 December 1957 at age 76.1
     He was educated at Glasgow Academy, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, ScotlandG.1 He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1905 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He was admitted to Inner Temple in 1908 entitled to practise as a barrister.1 He gained the rank of Temporary Lieutenant in the Royal Army Service Corps.1 He fought in the First World War.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Conservative) for Aberdeen Central and Kincardine between 1924 and 1945.1 He was appointed Knight in 1934.1 He was created 1st Baronet Smith, of Crowmallie, co. Aberdeen [U.K.] on 21 June 1945.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)1
