     Sir Theobald Mathew was born circa 1898. He was the son of Charles James Mathew and Anna Maria Cassidy.2,3 He married Phyllis Helen Russell, daughter of Cyril Russell and Helen Mary Pirie, on 27 December 1923.1 He died on 29 February 1964.
     He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)1 He was appointed King's Counsel (K.C.) in 1927.1 He held the office of Director of Public Prosecutions between 1944 and 1964.3 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the British Empire (K.B.E.) on 13 June 1946.1,3
