     William Henry Ashhurst was born on 19 October 1778.2 He was the son of Sir William Henry Ashhurst and Grace Whalley.2 He married, firstly, Elizabeth Mosley, daughter of Oswald Mosley and Elizabeth Tonman, in 1806.1 He married, secondly, Selina Morshead, daughter of Sir John Morshead, 1st Bt. and Elizabeth Frederick, on 15 August 1839.2 He died on 3 June 1846 at age 67.2
     He lived at Waterstock, Oxfordshire, England.1 He was educated at Worcester College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.2 He held the office of Sheriff of Oxfordshire from 1810 to 1811.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Oxfordshire between 1815 and 1830.1

     From 17 August 1807, her married name became Whalley-Smythe-Gardiner.

     He gained the title of 3rd Baronet Whalley-Smythe-Gardiner.1

     He was Rector at Rolleston, Staffordshire, England.1
