Sir John Ogilvy of Inverquharity, 3rd Bt.1

     Sir John Ogilvy of Inverquharity, 3rd Bt. was the son of Sir David Ogilvy of Inverquharity, 2nd Bt. and Margaret Dun.2 He married Margaret Ogilvy, daughter of James Ogilvy of Muirton and Cluny and Catherine Nairne, in 1697.1 He died circa 1735.1
     He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Ogilvy, of Inverquharity, Forfarshire [N.S., 1626] circa 1679.1

     Sir John Ogilvy of Inverquharity, 4th Bt. is the son of Sir John Ogilvy of Inverquharity, 3rd Bt. and Margaret Ogilvy.2 He married, secondly, Anne Carnegie, daughter of James Carnegie and Violet Naesmyth.1 He married, firstly, Helen Mercer, daughter of Sir Laurence Mercer of Aldie and Helen Mercer of Aldie, in 1720.1 He died in February 1748, having by her had, with another dau:.1
     He succeeded as the 4th Baronet Ogilvy, of Inverquharity, Forfarshire [N.S., 1626] circa 1735.1

     Helen Mercer was baptised on 13 May 1696 at St. Martins, Perth, Perthshire, Scotland.2 She was the daughter of Sir Laurence Mercer of Aldie and Helen Mercer of Aldie.1,3 She married Sir John Ogilvy of Inverquharity, 4th Bt., son of Sir John Ogilvy of Inverquharity, 3rd Bt. and Margaret Ogilvy, in 1720.1
     From 1720, her married name became Ogilvy.

     Sir John Ogilvy of Inverquharity, 5th Bt. is the son of Sir John Ogilvy of Inverquharity, 4th Bt. and Helen Mercer.2 He married Charlotte Tulliedelph, daughter of Walter Tulliedelph of Tulliedeph, in 1754.1 He died on 15 March 1802.1
     He succeeded as the 5th Baronet Ogilvy, of Inverquharity, Forfarshire [N.S., 1626] in February 1748.1 He sold the lands of Inverquharity.1

     Brig.-Gen. David Ogilvy was the son of Sir John Ogilvy of Inverquharity, 4th Bt. and Helen Mercer.2 He died on 30 May 1781 at Sint Eustatia.1
     He gained the rank of Brigadier-General. He fought in the Battle of Culloden in 1746.1 He held the office of Governor of St. Eustatia.1
