     Sir Frank Edwin Newson-Smith, 1st Bt. was born on 25 March 1879.1 He was the son of Henry Newson-Smith and Elizabeth Caroline Louise Powning.2 He married Lilian Dorothy Tozer, daughter of Sir Henry Tozer, on 7 July 1904.1 He died in 1971.1
     He was educated at St. Lawrence College, Ramsgate, Kent, England.1 He was educated at University College School, London, England.1 He was member of the London Stock Exchange in 1900.1 He was member of the Court of Common Council between 1911 and 1938.1 He was Lieutenant of the City of London in 1929.1 He held the office of Sheriff of London from 1939 to 1940.1 He was appointed Knight in 1941.1 He was awarded the honorary degree of Master of Arts (M.A.) by Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1941.1 He held the office of Lord Mayor of London between 1943 and 1944.1 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Civil Law (D.C.L.) by Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1944.1 He was created 1st Baronet Newson-Smith, of Totteridge, co. Hertford [U.K.] on 1 December 1944.1

     Lilian Dorothy Tozer was the daughter of Sir Henry Tozer.2 She married Sir Frank Edwin Newson-Smith, 1st Bt., son of Henry Newson-Smith and Elizabeth Caroline Louise Powning, on 7 July 1904.1 She died on 3 January 1955.1
     From 7 July 1904, her married name became Newson-Smith.

     Sir John Kenneth Newson-Smith, 2nd Bt. was born on 9 January 1911.1 He was the son of Sir Frank Edwin Newson-Smith, 1st Bt. and Lilian Dorothy Tozer.2 He married, firstly, Vera Margaret Allt, daughter of Dr. Greenhouse Allt, on 17 March 1945.1 He and Vera Margaret Allt were divorced in 1971.1 He married, secondly, Annie Burns, daughter of Harold Burns, in 1972.1 He married, thirdly, Sarah Lucretia Wimberley Bicknell, daughter of Robert Bicknell, in 1988.1 He died on 11 November 1997 at age 86.1
     He was educated at Dover College, Dover, Kent, England.1 He graduated from Jesus College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1933 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant Royal in the Navy Volunteer Reserve.1 He was member of the Court of Common Council in 1945.1 He graduated from Jesus College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1946 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of the City of London in 1947.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Newson-Smith, of Totteridge, co. Hertford [U.K., 1944] in 1971.1
