     James Robert White was born in 1879 at Whitehall, Broughshane, County Antrim, IrelandG.1 He was the son of Field Marshal Sir George Stuart White, V.C. and Amelia Maria Baly.1 He married Mercedes Mosley.1 He died in 1945 at Belfast, County Antrim, IrelandG.1
     He fought in the Boer War.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the 1st Gordon Highlanders.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) on 2 July 1901.1
