     Sir Samuel Stephens Marling, 1st Bt. was born on 10 April 1810.1 He was the son of William Marling and Sarah Hillman.2 He married Margaret Williams Cartwright, daughter of William Bentley Cartwright and Susan Auther Williams, on 23 September 1834.1 He died on 22 October 1883 at age 73.1
     He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of West Gloucestershire.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for West Gloucestershire between 1868 and 1874.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Stroud between 1875 and 1880.1 He lived at Sedbury Park, Gloucestershire, England.1 He lived at Stanley Park, Gloucestershire, England.1 He was created 1st Baronet Marling, of Stanley Park and Sedbury Park, co. Gloucester [U.K.] on 22 May 1882.1
