Hon. Alexander Macdonald1

     Hon. Alexander Macdonald was born in 1762 at Culachie, Scotland.1 He was the son of Allan Macdonald, 4th of Culachie and Helen Macnab.2 He married Anne Smith, daughter of James Smith.1 He died on 18 March 1842.1
     He was Member of the Legislative Assembly (M.L.A.) [Upper Canada]1 He held the office of Sheriff of the Home District between 1792 and 1804.1 He gained the rank of Militia Colonel and Deputy Paymaster-General.1 He held the office of Speaker of the Legislative Assembly in 1804.1 He was Agent for Earl of Selkirk in West District between 1805 and 1812.1 He fought in the American War, in Butler's Rangers.1 He was Assistant Secretary, Indian Department in 1816.1

Allan Macdonald1

     Allan Macdonald was the son of Hon. Alexander Macdonald and Anne Smith.2 He died on 9 September 1888, unmarried.1
     He was a practising barrister.1 He was Sheriff of Gore District.1

     James Macdonald is the son of Hon. Alexander Macdonald and Anne Smith.2 He married Margaret Leah Smith, daughter of Colonel Hon. Samuel Smith, in 1835.1
     He was Collector of Inland Revenue.1 He was also known as James MacDonell.2
