     Evelyn Charteris Black was the daughter of James Buyers Black.2 She married Alfred Patrick Macthomas Thoms of Aberlemno, son of Thomas Watt Thoms and Rachel Jameson Duncan, on 6 October 1908.1 She died on 22 July 1968.1
     From 6 October 1908, her married name became Thoms.

     Patrick Watt MacThomas of Finegand, 18th Chief was born on 19 October 1909.1 He was the son of Alfred Patrick Macthomas Thoms of Aberlemno and Evelyn Charteris Black.2 He married Elizabeth Cadogan Fenwick Clayhills-Henderson, daughter of Beckett Clayhills-Henderson, on 30 August 1941.1 He died on 18 May 1970 at age 60.1
     He was given the name of Patrick Watt Thoms at birth.1 He held the position of 18th Chief of the Clan MacThomas from.1 He was educated at Edinburgh Academy, Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG.1 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the 24th Lancers.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He was recognised by Lord Lyon King of Arms, and matriculated his arms at the Lyons Court on 24 October 1958.1 On 24 October 1958 his name was legally changed to Patrick Watt MacThomas.1 He was recognised by Lord Lyon King of Arms, and matriculated his arms at the Lyons Court on 8 May 1967.1

     Colin Edwin Sutherland Thoms was born on 2 August 1912.1 He was the son of Alfred Patrick Macthomas Thoms of Aberlemno and Evelyn Charteris Black.2 He married Anne Mortimer Whyte, daughter of Sir Alexander Frederick Whyte and Margaret Emily Fairweather, on 18 July 1951.1 He died in 1997.1
     He was educated at Edinburgh Academy, Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG.1

     Sir Alexander Frederick Whyte was born in 1883.3 He was the son of Reverend Alexander Whyte and Jane Elizabeth Barbour.3 He married Margaret Emily Fairweather.3 He died on 30 July 1970.3
     He was appointed KCS.1 He was educated at Jena University, Jena, Austria.3 He was educated at Edinburgh University, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Liberal) for Perth City between 1910 and 1918.3 He held the office of President of the Legislative Assembly [India] between 1920 and 1925.3 He was appointed Knight in 1922.3 He wrote the book Asia in the Twentieth Century, published 1926.3 He wrote the book China and Foreign Powers, published 1927.3 He was political advisor to the National Government of China between 1929 and 1932.3 He was head of the American division of the Ministry of Information between 1939 and 1940.3
