Cecil James Hewitt was born on 31 January 1882.1 He was the son of James Charles Archibald Hewitt and Jane Harvey Andrew.2 He married Katherine Sybil Learmonth Palmer, daughter of Vice-Admiral Norman Craig Palmer, on 30 December 1916.1 He died on 23 May 1951 at age 69.1
He fought in the First World War, where he was wounded twice.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Grenadier Guards (SR.)1

Captain James Dudley Ryder Hewitt was born on 17 November 1840.1 He was the son of Rev. Hon. John Pratt Hewitt and Elizabeth Gervais.2 He married Thomasine Riddiford, daughter of Daniel Riddiford and Harriot Stone, on 6 September 1873 at St. James, Lower Hutt, New Zealand.1,3 He died in May 1913 at age 72.1
