Lt.-Col. Brian James Lifford Hewitt was born on 26 July 1945.1 He is the son of Patrick Francis Hewitt and Mary Holmden.2 He married, firstly, Erin Margaret Walshe, daughter of Keith Charles Walshe, in 1972.1 He and Erin Margaret Walshe were divorced in 1984.1 He married, secondly, Julie Margaret-Anne Beuth, daughter of Maurice James Beuth, in 1984.1
He gained the rank of officer between 1965 and 1987 in the Royal New Zealand Army.1 He fought in the Vietnam War between 1969 and 1970.1 He was with the Commonwealth Monitoring Force between 1979 and 1980 at Zimbabwe.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel between 1989 and 1995 in the Australian Army.1 He lived in 2003 at Birchmans Grove, Bungendore, New South Wales, AustraliaG.1
