     He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Royal Navy.1

     He was educated at Cheltenham College, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 5th Royal Inniskilling Dragoon Guards.1
