     Reginald Hope Spens was born on 6 November 1850.1 He was the son of Archibald Spens, 22nd of that Ilk and 19th of Lathallan and Henrietta Ouchterlony Valiant.2 He married Mary Elizabeth Anderson, daughter of Francis Anderson, on 18 April 1876.1 He died on 4 December 1919 at age 69.1
     He was educated at Glenalmond College, Glenalmond, Perthshire, ScotlandG.1 He was a practising Writer to the Signet (W.S.)1 He was Parliamentary Agent in London.1

     Colin Hope Spens was born on 22 May 1906.1 He was the son of Archibald Hope Spens and Hilda Constance Hooper.2 He married Thyrza Josephine Simond, daughter of Septimus Duncan Simond, on 29 March 1941.1 He died in March 2003 at age 96 at Eastbourne, Sussex, England.3
     He was educated at Lancing College, Lancing, Sussex, England.1 He graduated from City and Guilds Engineering College, London, EnglandG, in 1928 with a ACGI.1 He was appointed Fellow, Geological Society (F.G.S.) in 1932.1 He fought in the Second World War between 1939 and 1941, with Royal Signals.1 He was PA to Director of Works, Ministry of Works between 1941 and 1944.1 He was appointed Fellow, Institution of Civil Engineers (F.I.C.E.)1 He was Chief Engineer, Ministry of Housing and Local Government between 1960 and 1967.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1962.1 He was appointed Fellow, Institution of Water and Environmental Management (F.I.W.E.M.)1 He was senior consultant with Rofe, Kennard and Lapworth between 1967 and 1976.1 He lived in 2003 at 20 Saffrons Road, Eastbourne, Sussex, EnglandG.1
