     Sir Walter Galpin Alcock was born on 29 December 1861 at Edenbridge, Kent, England.2 He was the son of Walter William Alcock and Mary Galpin.2,3 He married Naomi Blanche Lucas, daughter of Reverend Charles Halford Lucas and Lucy Harriet Coldham, in 1893.2 He died on 11 September 1947 at age 85.2
     He was the organist between 1916 and 1947 at Salisbury Cathedral, Salisbury, Wiltshire, England.2 He was appointed Member, Royal Victorian Order (M.V.O.)1 He was appointed Fellow, Royal College of Music (F.R.C.M.)1 He was appointed Fellow, Royal College of Organists (F.R.C.O.)1 He graduated with a Doctor of Music (D.Mus.)1 He was appointed Knight Bachelor in 1933.2
