     Alvilde Bridges was born on 13 August 1909 at 28 Old Queen Street, London, England. She was the daughter of Lt.-Gen. Sir George Tom Molesworth Bridges and Janet Florence Menzies.1 She married, firstly, Anthony Freskin Charles Hamby Chaplin, 3rd Viscount Chaplin, son of Eric Chaplin, 2nd Viscount Chaplin and Hon. Gwladys Alice Gertrude Wilson, on 9 January 1933.1 She and Anthony Freskin Charles Hamby Chaplin, 3rd Viscount Chaplin were divorced in 1950.2 She married, secondly, George James Henry Lees-Milne, son of George Crompton Lees-Milne and Helen Christina Bailey, on 19 November 1951 at Chelsea, London, England.3 She died on 18 March 1994 at age 84 at Essex House, Badminton, Gloucestershire, England.3
     Her married name became Chaplin. After her marriage, Alvilde Bridges was styled as Viscountess Chaplin on 12 September 1949. From 19 November 1951, her married name became Lees-Milne.3

Sir George Tom Molesworth Bridges was born on 20 August 1871.2 He was the son of Major Thomas Walker Bridges and Mary Ann Philippi.3 He married Janet Florence Menzies, daughter of Graham Menzies, on 14 November 1907 at St. Margaret, Westminster, London, England.3 He died on 26 November 1939 at age 68.2
     He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of St. Michael and St. George (K.C.M.G.)1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.)1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.)1
